Man United legend Paul Scholes has told Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes that he should have kept his mouth shut following the team’s 2-0 opening-day defeat to Hull City.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes reacted to Fernandes publicly criticizing his teammates and claiming United were repeating the same mistakes from last season.

Scholes argued that because Fernandes had a poor individual game, giving away cheap fouls and losing possession, he lacked the grounding to call out others in the media
The former midfielder emphasized that the captain needs to look at his own display and shoulder the blame rather than pointing fingers externally.
“I’d be interested to know what he means by them. What mistakes were they giving away?” Scholes and Dion Dublin, who were speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football, sponsored by Midnite, said.

“Especially when you perform the way he did as well, I think it’s probably to keep your mouth shut. He didn’t have his best performance either.”
Scholes also criticised Shaw for questioning United’s preparation.
“It’s not us and we knew it was coming,” Shaw said.
