Governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have assured the party that they will win their states in the 2027 election.

Governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have assured the party that they will win their states in the 2027 election.

The candidates who made this pledge at a meeting with the ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday, expressed gratitude to the party for giving them the platform to contest.

ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who briefed journalists after the meeting, disclosed that the governorship candidates supported the decision of the party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to anchor the party’s campaign on bringing down the cost of living for Nigerians, especially by bringing back fuel subsidy to reduce the price of fuel.

The ADC National Chairman, according to Abdullahi, however, charged the candidates of the party to avoid hate speech and empty promises as they kick-start their campaigns ahead of the 2027 general election.

“We are ADC. Our campaign must reflect the kind of country that we would like to build.

“Avoid hate speech, ethnic or religious profiling. We cannot be associated with violence in whatever form.

“Unlike the ruling party and the president, ADC does not believe that all is fair in politics,” he stated.

The National Chairman advised the candidates to familiarise themselves with the Governance and Ethical Principles of the party as articulated in its ‘Orange Book’, as well as the party’s manifesto.

Mark told the candidates to avoid making promises they do not intend to keep when they come to office because it could erode the integrity of the party.

The ADC spokesperson condemned alleged hate speeches and threats by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing them as political terrorism.

“This is political terrorism, and we are compiling the list of these kinds of cases, and we are going to make it open,” he said.
