A video showing the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, prostrating before his elder brother, Dr Adedeji Adeleke, in appreciation for his support during the just-concluded governorship election, has gone viral on social media.

The video was shared by media publisher, Dele Momodu, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday.

In the clip, the governor is seen fully prostrating in the traditional Yoruba manner before his older brother, who is also the father of Afrobeats star, Davido.

The elder Adeleke, in turn, prayed for the governor and his administration as family members and associates looked on.

The gesture comes days after Adeleke was declared winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, having polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 444,815 votes.

The video has since generated reactions on X, with many users commending the governor’s display of humility and the Adeleke family’s cultural values.

An X user, Theo Ayodeji, said, “One thing I love about Yoruba culture is how strongly we value respect for elders. You can hold the highest office and still dobale before an elder. Is this tradition still as strong among younger Yorubas today? You probably know the answer.”

Reacting, Nazir A. Usman said, “Respect for elders and constituted authority is one thing you can’t take away from Yoruba people.”

Cosmas Nnamdi Nweke said, “I love this man. I also enjoy the kind of family relationship and love that is obvious in the Adeleke family.”

Ayodeji added, “Omoluabi trait. Thank you Mr Governor for not allowing the transience of power to cloud your sense of gratitude, both to the Almighty God and man.”
