The OK Movement, one of the political support structures associated with the Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso political alliance, has appointed former Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) National Chairman, High Chief Peter Ameh, as its National Director General.
The appointment was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the National Convener of the Movement, Hon. Jackie Wayas, following a meeting of the Movement’s Steering Committee.
According to the statement, members of the Steering Committee unanimously agreed on the need to appoint a Director General whose leadership qualities, experience, and commitment align with the vision and objectives of the Movement.
Wayas said the committee was confident that Ameh’s vast experience in politics, leadership, and nation-building would provide the strategic direction required to advance the Movement’s goals.
“The Steering Committee is more than pleased to welcome High Chief Peter Ameh on board as our National Director General. His wealth of experience in politics, leadership, and nation-building makes him the right person to help provide strategic direction for this Movement as we continue to build a united platform for national transformation,” Wayas stated.
Ameh is a prominent political figure and democracy advocate with decades of experience in public service and political leadership. He previously served as the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), where he was known for promoting electoral reforms, democratic governance, and greater participation of political parties in Nigeria’s democratic process.
He has also been actively involved in national discourse on governance, accountability, and institutional reforms, earning recognition as a vocal advocate for transparency and good governance.
The Steering Committee expressed confidence that Ameh’s leadership would strengthen the Movement’s organisational capacity, deepen its nationwide engagement, and enhance its ability to mobilise Nigerians around its objectives.
The OK Movement reiterated its commitment to promoting visionary leadership, national unity, and people-centred governance, describing Ameh’s appointment as a significant milestone in its efforts to build a stronger and more effective national platform.
The Movement noted that it looks forward to working closely with the new Director General in advancing its ideals and aspirations for a better Nigeria.
The OK Movement has emerged as one of the notable support structures backing the political collaboration between Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential Candidate in 2023, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group has been involved in grassroots mobilisation and advocacy aimed at building a broad-based coalition for political and national transformation.
