Imo Strikers Queens Football Club have demanded the payment of ₦15 million allegedly owed by Osun Babes Football Club following a slot exchange agreement between the two clubs.
The Imo-based women’s football club made the demand in a petition dated August 7, 2026, addressed to the management of Osun Babes and copied to relevant authorities in Osun State.
The petition was also forwarded to Osun State Governor, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Council and the Chairman of the Osun State Football Association.
Imo Strikers Queens said the disputed sum represented the outstanding balance arising from an agreement reached with Osun Babes over the exchange of a league slot.
According to the petition, “the club’s position is supported by documentary evidence, including a letter allegedly issued by Osun Babes on December 22, 2025.
“The letter, reportedly signed by the Team Manager of Osun Babes, Akinbade O. Tope, allegedly acknowledged that the club was unable to pay the outstanding ₦15 million at the time.”
Imo Strikers Queens said Osun Babes subsequently committed to settling the balance by the end of the first round of the 2025/2026 Premier League season, before the commencement of the second round.
However, the Imo club alleged that the payment commitment has not been fulfilled and that the ₦15 million remains outstanding.
The petition maintained that the matter was not merely a case of a disputed financial claim, stressing that the alleged debt had been acknowledged in writing by Osun Babes.
Imo Strikers Queens said the continued non-payment had created financial difficulties for the club, particularly because of its responsibilities towards players, coaches and other officials.
The club also pointed to its involvement in grassroots and women’s football development, saying the outstanding obligation had added to its financial commitments.
Imo Strikers Queens called for the immediate payment of the full ₦15 million by Osun Babes to bring the matter to an end.
The club also appealed to the relevant Osun State authorities and football administrators to intervene, while asking the Nigeria Women’s Football League and the Nigeria Football Federation to take notice of the dispute.
“We request that any proposed arrangement for settling the outstanding amount should be communicated formally to the club in writing.
“Consequent, we give Osun Babes and the relevant authorities 14 days from the receipt of the petition to pay the outstanding sum or present a mutually acceptable written settlement,” it warned.
The club warned that failure to resolve the matter within the stipulated period could result in further action, including the pursuit of regulatory and legal remedies before the appropriate football authorities and competent courts.
Imo Strikers Queens said it had previously attempted to resolve the matter amicably but maintained that the alleged failure to honour the written acknowledgment and payment commitment had necessitated its latest demand.
The club urged the Osun State Government and football authorities to intervene and facilitate the settlement of the ₦15 million it says remains outstanding from the slot exchange agreement.
Meanwhile, attempts by DAILY POST to reach the General Manager of Osun State Sports Council and chairman of the club, Ademola Daini, proved abortive as calls and messages put across to him went unanswered.
