In preparation to conclude two year tenure of the elected twenty one Local Government Areas Chairmen, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Tuesday hosted a valedictory session in their honour.
The event which took place at the Government House, Yola is less than 24 hours before the expiration of the chairmen’s tenure, provided an opportunity for the council chairmen to express appreciation to the governor and reaffirm their loyalty to his administration.
Addressing the outgoing chairmen, Governor Fintiri thanked them for their dedication and cooperation throughout their time in office, describing their working relationship as productive and rewarding.
He said the period witnessed remarkable achievements across various sectors, adding that his administration had recorded historic milestones despite Adamawa not being an oil-producing state.
According to the governor, the successes recorded were made possible through discipline, hard work and commitment to the development of the state.
Fintiri acknowledged that no administration could achieve perfection but maintained that his government had performed above average in delivering democratic dividends to the people.
He also commended the council chairmen for the development projects executed in their respective local government areas, noting that they were leaving office with a sense of fulfilment and pride.
The governor urged the outgoing chairmen to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and work towards the success of all the party’s candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Adamawa State chapter, Suleiman Ahmed Gangkuba, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for the confidence reposed in them to serve their various communities.
He said the governor’s leadership style provided valuable lessons in governance and enabled the chairmen to execute impactful projects at the grassroots.
Gangkuba assured the governor of their continued loyalty and support even after leaving office.
Some of the outgoing council leaders who spoke separately described Governor Fintiri as a transformational leader whose administration had changed the developmental landscape of Adamawa State.
They said the governor’s leadership had inspired and prepared them for greater responsibilities, pledging to continue supporting him and the APC in future political engagements, including the 2027 general elections.
