The immediate past Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, Barrister Tanko Beji, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a telephone interview on Friday, Beji, who served two terms as PDP Chairman, confirmed the move by saying, “Yes, it is true.”
He did not specify his reasons for leaving the PDP but stated clearly, “I have joined the APC.”
Recall that Barrister Beji, who had been on a political hiatus, previously held roles such as State Secretary, Vice Chairman, Legal Adviser, Director-General of a gubernatorial campaign, and Acting National Youth Leader of PDP.
The former PDP leader also expressed that his decision to join the APC was well-considered, aligning with the positive change underway in Niger State under Governor Umaru Bago’s leadership.
“Joining the APC is the right decision for any politician genuinely interested in the ongoing development and transformation of Niger State,” he said.
An APC chieftain in the state, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that Beji’s switch followed thorough discussions and consultations.
He assured Beji of fair treatment, inclusiveness, and the chance to contribute his extensive experience towards the party’s growth and Niger State’s development.
Additionally, the APC official regarded Beji’s decision as a sign of increasing confidence in the party and its vision for a new Niger, known as the “New Niger Agenda.”
