The Pate Youth Ambassadors Initiatives (PYI) has called on former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to publicly clarify whether he remains a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Friday by the Director-General of PYI, Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, the group expressed concern over what it described as sustained attacks on the APC and its 2027 governorship candidate, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN), by individuals believed to be loyal to Tuggar.
The group said Tuggar should state whether he still identifies with the APC and explain why he has not publicly cautioned his supporters against actions capable of creating division within the party.
PYI also asked the former minister to clarify whether the activities of his supporters were being carried out with his knowledge or approval.
The group noted that Tuggar had benefited from appointments under the APC administration, serving as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany and later as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and urged him to publicly distance himself from any actions capable of undermining the party.
It stressed that the APC governorship primary had been concluded and that the focus should now be on reconciliation and party unity ahead of future elections.
According to PYI, other aspirants, including Dr. YY Abdullahi, Dr. Nuru Manu Soro, Dr. Bala Wunti, Alhaji Kabiru Baba Maaji and Baba Suleiman, had accepted the outcome of the primary election and continued to support the party.
The group also expressed concern over reports linking non-APC members to Tuggar’s political camp and urged him to clarify the situation.
PYI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity and ensuring the APC’s success in Bauchi State and across the country.
