The National Movement for Tinubu–Shettima 2027 — Forward Nigeria has announced the commencement of preparations for a nationwide programme of consultations, organisation and mobilisation aimed at building support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday and jointly signed by the Movement’s Interim National Coordinator, Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali; National Coordinating Secretary, Dr. Bassey Rekpene; and National Media Coordinator, Ardo Zubairu.
The Movement explained that although September 1, 2026 had initially been considered for its formal public unveiling, ongoing consultations and organisational considerations necessitated a slight adjustment, adding that a new date for the official launch would be announced soon.
According to the interim leadership, considerable progress has already been made in laying the philosophical, organisational and operational foundations of the group.
Among the key documents already developed is a Mandate Document, described as the Movement’s foundational framework outlining its philosophy, objectives, organisational structure and strategic direction.
The group also said it had produced a National Covenant articulating its position on the 2027 general elections and the rationale behind its support for the Tinubu–Shettima ticket under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Movement said its endorsement of the President and Vice President was based on the belief that the 2027 elections would be pivotal to Nigeria’s quest for economic transformation, national security, political stability and sustainable development.
“The 2027 election must go beyond personal issues and propaganda. It should provide Nigerians an opportunity to assess competing visions, evaluate national progress and make informed choices about the leadership and policies best suited to advancing the country’s interests,” the statement said.
The leadership further disclosed that it had developed a comprehensive Programme of Action to guide stakeholder consultations, public communication, grassroots mobilisation and nationwide engagement with citizens.
It added that efforts were underway to strengthen the Movement’s communication and administrative infrastructure, including the development of an official website, email platforms, WhatsApp channels and dedicated telephone lines.
The committee noted that engagements with stakeholders and prospective members across the country and in the diaspora had already commenced.
“We are engaging members nationwide and beyond to establish their level of commitment, identify areas of competence and interest, and determine the responsibilities they are prepared to undertake. The response has been encouraging,” it stated.
The Movement said that following its formal inauguration, it would launch a structured national mobilisation programme aimed at establishing a presence across states, local government areas and communities nationwide.
It assured supporters that details of forthcoming programmes, including dates, venues and participation arrangements, would be communicated through its official channels.
The committee stressed that successful political participation required organisation and strategic planning beyond mere enthusiasm.
“Elections are not won by enthusiasm alone. Organisation, communication, mobilisation, commitment and responsible civic participation remain indispensable,” it said.
Calling on supporters to strengthen their networks and deepen grassroots engagement, the Movement reiterated its commitment to building a broad-based, disciplined and nationally representative platform in support of the Tinubu–Shettima 2027 project.
It added that the initiative was conceived not merely as another political support group but as a credible national vehicle through which Nigerians who share its vision could actively and constructively participate in shaping the country’s political future.
The Movement consequently invited Nigerians who believe in continuity, stability, development, national cohesion and progressive governance to identify with and support the emerging national mobilisation.
