The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected reports that its national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, is working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against his party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press briefing at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Saturday, NDC National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas dismissed the claims, saying the party remained united and cohesive.
Cleopas said the party had received numerous inquiries from members, supporters and other Nigerians concerned about reports that it had become inactive or was facing organisational challenges ahead of the elections.
He said the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC) and party structures at state, local government and ward levels remained committed to supporting the NDC’s candidates.

Cleopas denied that Dickson was collaborating with the APC to undermine the NDC’s presidential candidacy.
He said the party’s decision to offer its platform to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso reflected its commitment to advancing its political agenda.
“Dickson would never consider supporting Tinubu and the APC. Why would the NDC national leader undertake the complicated and costly process of establishing and registering a new political party when joining the APC would have been a simpler and more financially advantageous option?” Cleopas said.
He urged journalists to report allegations and political speculation responsibly, warning that false information could create unwarranted suspicion and mislead voters.
Cleopas also commended the judiciary for providing the platform through which the NDC was registered and acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling for continued support for the electoral body.
