The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Thursday led a Federal Government delegation to Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, to condole with the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, over the death of his maternal aunt, Hajiya Rukiya Jibril.
Delivering President Bola Tinubu’s condolence message, Akume assured Yari and his family that they were not alone in their moment of grief, describing death as a transition ordained by Allah’s will and wisdom. He prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased’s sins and for Allah’s mercy upon her soul.
Responding, Yari thanked President Tinubu, the SGF and members of the delegation for their show of solidarity, describing the visit as a source of comfort and strength to his family. He appealed to Nigerians to remember the deceased in their prayers.
Members of the delegation included Niger State Governor Umar Bago, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru, former Imo State Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha and former Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Also present were opposition figures, including former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Senator Abdul Ningi, representing the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Senator Tony Nwoye led a delegation of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
