As political parties candidates intensify campaign and consultation in readiness for the coming polls, a former Accord Party Governorship candidate in 2023 elections in Akwa Ibom, Emem Coffie, MFR, has assured the people of the state that he will pioritize the Unity of the state if elected as thier next governor in 2027.
Addressing Journalists in Uyo, the state capital on Monday, he added that he will embark on massive empowerment of youths, women and senior citizens to usher in the much expected prosperity for the citizens of the state.
Describing Akwa ibom as a state blessed with abundant human and material resources, Engr Coffie now of the PDP averred that he has the political will to confront poverty by massively ensuring the training of youths in various lucrative skills and giving them starter packs, creating job opportunities for others including ensuring that women are carried along effectively.
He noted that he will embark on massive commercial Agriculture with farm settlements across the state to ensure that people are not only engaged to work but mass produce enough food both for domestic consumption and export to other states.
“Akwa ibom with its vast arable land cannot rely on food from other states for survival” he added.
Coffie pledged to make primary and secondary education not only free but compulsory for Akwa ibom children, “we cannot afford to have any child of school age hawking any longer along the streets in any part of our dear state during the school hours. Our children must have basic, free and compulsory education for better foundation.”
” Life is precious and we will not just overhaul our medical system to make it more responsive but will make it attractive and affordable for all citizens, my government will end medical tourism abroad and rather attract patients to visit our state for the best medical care.”
He highlighted that the state will witness unparalleled Unity, love and brotherhood if elected because he is not just an Ibibio son from Nsit Ubium but has maternal linkage with Iwukem Etim Ekpo in Annang land and close affinity with others.
” I understand the complex nature of our dear state Akwa ibom with its rich cultural heritage, we are one people united by God for the purpose of living together as a people , we must build a state which our future generations will inherit with pride. I feel worried anytime there is unnecessary altercations and ethnic tension. I assure our people that I will bond them better if elected as governor.”
“We must understand the place of dialogue, understanding, peace, justice and brotherhood in all our undertakings and de-emphasize any issue that brings disunity, suspicion or crisis, we must build a state which will accommodate every geninue interest and opportunity for all to reach the zenith of their aspirations and career.”
