The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has reiterated his confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the January 16, 2027, presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television politics today on Sunday, Yilwatda disclosed that the party’s polling showed Tinubu leading across 36 states, stressing that the APC was not afraid of opposition parties.
He argued that the ADC and NDC’s inability to win elections ahead of 2027 gave his party an advantage.
“We have done fact-finding; we are leading. We have done our polls. We have our own polls that give us the real statistics across the states,” he said.
Asked whether the polls showed the APC candidate would win, Yilwatda replied, “Of course!”

Yilwatda said tax laws introduced by Tinubu had benefited the country’s poorest residents by expanding the tax net and increasing government revenue.
On electricity, he said the APC-led government had enabled state governments to generate, transmit and distribute power.
“What we are passing through [in Nigeria], for example, at this moment, is temporary. The increase in the cost of fuel is temporary. Nigerians believe in us,” he said.
Yilwatda rejected claims that the APC shielded its members from prosecution or conviction on corruption and other charges.
“Nobody is protected [in the APC]. I don’t want to mention names, but I know members of our party [the APC] who are undergoing prosecution—who appear in court every day. As APC members, we can’t use strict prosecution to go ahead and deny people their fundamental human rights,” he said.
He said the party was using a three-pronged approach to address grievances arising from its election primaries.
Yilwatda also said the party leadership was reviewing the presidential campaign council list and would inaugurate the council soon.
On the Rainbow Coalition formed by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Yilwatda said he was not opposed to anyone supporting Tinubu.
He dismissed the Tinubu-Must-Go campaigners as opposition members, saying they did not reflect Nigerians’ views of the president.
